HATROPINA presents its new boom SLIM CUSTOM PRO CARBON 100% 135-185.

Like all HATROPINA products, this boom too has quality and performance standards clearly higher than the market average. Creating the lightest, stiffest, strongest and most performing boom on the market was our goal (reached). Also in this case we tested several prototypes for a long time and carefully before going into production with the final version.

The HATROPINA products come out of the logic of "everything the same" mass products of the great major and also in this case we turned to extremely capable manufacturers, with very high construction standards , who use the best materials and have meticulous, handcrafted and customized care of the final product

Our builder creates his Carbon Prepreg, the cornerstone of the whole process, creating a custom production of carbon for the Hatropina booms, with the main objective of producing the best stiffness/weight ratio. Each boom is built individually with unique methods and a technologically advanced process, the final result is lightness, rigidity, ergonomics and geometry. Incredibly light 24.5mm diameter boom, at the same time super stiff and surprising for the incredible reflex and drive. Assembled with ample preload for zero backlash. Safely rigid and stable even at full extension

Both the main body and the terminal are custom built to obtain the correct distribution for a perfect balance between the front and rear hand. Additionally, each individual arm undergoes a final tensile test to ensure actual stiffness is true to specification. Note that the weight distribution is towards the front; where there is the connection and distribution of energy/power that is transmitted from the board through the tree. The lightweight back section allows the rig to move freely without effort when rigging. This is in direct opposition to the usual constructions of other brands which for “added stiffness” make bigger and heavier rear sections

Customisation:

The booms Hatropina can be available upon request in two different stiffnesses, Standard (FL) and High Stiffness (HS) the choice depends on the weight of the rider, the range of sails and the needs of the rider (in the case of this 135 we chose the slightly more tolerant FL standard). In the larger sizes (145) you can have a wider terminal (14cm). On request it is possible to have an alternative covering in cork (see photo) instead of in EVA.

Materials:

Prepreg Carbon UD (unidirectional) is rigorously used, and exclusively PAN High Strength (HS) with a modulus value that lies in the threshold between the normal modulus and the intermediate modulus (IM).

UD instead of carbon fabric, due to the indisputable superiority of its final properties (stiffness, resistance, weight, reactivity, less fatigue from cyclic load. ). What is the challenge of UD carbon? it is the delicate nature, difficulty in manipulating it and the meticulousness required to apply it correctly, (therefore very high know-how and higher costs are required) which is the reason why practically no boom manufacturer uses it

On our booms, you will never see the distinct super shimmer looking carbon weave you see on windsurfing booms, nor disruption of the alignment of the fibers within the fabric

Curve:

The super ergonomic curve is oriented towards maximum driving comfort and  with a natural grip and curve of the wrists in all conditions.

Handle:

We use the Chinook Pro1 Head handle, one of the best on the market, with integrated adapter, it fits both SDM and RDM shafts. Alternatively, you can choose the  Streamlined handle which reduces the total weight by 60 g

Clips:

Dual pin clips with positive lock. We mount longer pins with molded pin wells, reinforced and thicker tubes around the pin holes This ensures that the pins are laterally anchored in its seat and cannot wobble and transfer breaking loads to its root or to the clip that carries it. The booms boast pin-to-hole tolerances that are smaller than other booms and much more durable. ,

Clamp area molded with silicon carbide (SiC) coating to combat abrasion from sand ingress. The PA sealing bush keeps sand and water out of the boom and protects the terminal from wear from torsional and axial loads

Grips:

The material we use is Aortha EVA, produced in the United Kingdom and purchased exclusively from the UK. It is a unique material due to its mechanical and aging properties, furthermore it is suitable for contact with the skin which makes it the most used material for podiatry applications worldwide. The boom features two grades of this premium EVA, in a dual density execution: high density along the entire outer perimeter of the boom and the area of ​​the trapezoid lines and medium density for the rest of the inside. All sections are bevel cut and glued in such an orientation that the seams are not stressed by manual traction
